Laphto Gallery

Laphto Gallery was established in 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by Artist Nuru Abegaz , (curator) and Shawel Hailu (owner). Laphto Gallery recognizes the need for reform, expansion and professionalism within the current Ethiopian cultural and arts environment. For that reason, Laphto Gallery is committed to serving as an advocate for Contemporary Art and Culture and also as a catalyst for the creation of significant art and cultural projects. Lapho art gallery in the last eight years has curated and exhibited more than 50 shows.

Our Mission

  • Build strong partnerships and improving communication, contact and business relationship between individual artists, government entities, corporations, art patrons and international arts and culture organizations
  • Encouraging young people who have a keen interest in art to make good use of their talents and use all the resources available to them

The gallery aims to provide artists with opportunities for experimentation and education, using its spaces to hold exhibits not only by local but also international artists and organizes panel discussions to stimulate art dialogue across geographical and cultural boundaries. The displayed works of local as well as international artists are all available for purchase.
